In 2025 I went to my first ever conventions! Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in July and Midwest Fur Fest in December!

My wife and I went from Tuesday through Monday morning, so most of the week, and it was just a blast. I had written a long write up of my time there shortly after we got back but I probably won’t be publishing my original intended post about it because I just don’t want to proofread that.. 😪 I’m trying to blog more and right now with my COVID-induced brain damage shorter, more off-the-cuff posts are easier to handle. It was absolutely so much fun. I felt so safe and among “my people.” That is to say, tons of queer and trans video game enjoyers were just all over the place and it felt kinda like home to me. I was shocked at how little my chronic fatigue affected me this week. It was just so much fun and excitement and somehow I didn’t crash the whole week? I’m so excited to go again this year!

MFF 2025

My wife and I went every day of this event too and had a hotel room for one night as well. It was a lot of fun, but being only a few days long it was overwhelming how tight the schedule was! We hit a few really cool panels and had a lot of fun looking through the Dealer’s Den and Artist’s Alley. This scene is definitely more my wife’s than mine, but I still found it really nice to be among the community. A bunch of people who buck the trend of what is “normal,” and especially doing so in queer ways, just feels really safe as well. It’s also such a massive event with so many people and TONS of walking around and navigating crowds. I definitely crashed while we were there. Am still looking forward to going again this year :)
