MRI Results…

Few nonspecific white matter FLAIR hyperintensities - may be related to headaches. Otherwise unremarkable MRI brain. No abnormal enhancing lesions.

White matter FLAIR hyperintensities could mean a lot of things it seems. They’re related to strokes (both post and pre somehow?), which I don’t believe I’ve ever had any. They could be a potential precursor to MS and cognitive decline and dementia. They may also be the result of my chronic migraines rather than an indication of anything coming.

The thing is though: these weren’t on my 2022 MRI.. So my doctor is referring me to neurology.

Meanwhile this study indicates they may be pretty benign and normal? Research Sheds Light on White Matter Lesions | Children’s Hospital Colorado

If these are signs of cognitive decline, well, one, that’s really scary of course. But two, I’ve had longcovid for six years. I’ve experienced a noticeable cognitive decline from the beginning of it. I’m not surprised these are here.. and with my experience the past six years, it has me really worried about continuing decline..

I still haven’t scheduled the appointment. It’s been really hard lately to make calls and schedule things. Junk removal, deck replacement, front porch stairs replacement, my cat’s dental work.. Just a lot to do and it’s so daunting. And it’s so had to keep track of it all too (that cognitive decline am I right!)..

Anyway, that’s just some of what’s been up lately

UPDATE: Oh I don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet: my chronic migraines are basically GONE since I started injections! I’m on a solid dose and my body is doing real well with it. So if these whitematter FLAIRs are resulting from chronic migraines, hopefully it won’t be getting any worse at least..
