Saw a pretty silly article on Kotaku today: Take-Two CEO Says We’ll All Be Streaming Our Games In 3 Years

Like, PlayStation Now has been around since 2014, twelve years, and while I do adore PSNow for access to PS3 games, it hasn’t changed general PlayStation usage much at all.

To be clear, Kotaku writer Rebekah Valentine seems skeptical of the argument too. It’s just more c-suite rent-seeking bullshit. When faced with hardware that’s too expensive, people are going to play older games or smaller games that don’t have super heavy requirements anymore. The market will also shift to provide games that work well on older hardware.

And then there’s the sickos like me who are installing DOSBox on their 3DS systems to play ancient PC games. But also I just finished Parasite Eve (PS1 on my 3DS, see above re: sicko status) and it was a far more engaging experience than many modern games I’ve played. It also helps that the campaign is a nice, yummy 10 hours long. There’s a gluttony of amazing games that are just waiting to be rediscovered and enjoyed. It’s almost embarrassing how much is out there!
