solved a weird issue on my LAN: My Plex library was regularly becoming inaccessible. But if I had a stream open on it already that would continue. My Plex static IP is assigned by the router’s DHCP server, by the MAC Address. My wife turned up a test VM with a different MAC that was ALSO being assigned that IP from the router.

Something about the “Client ID” in the DHCP Lease was the culprit. All I did was wipe that out and the second machine never grabbed the IP again.

Weird!
